End-Grain Walnut Cutting Board

Cut on end grain and your knives stay sharper for it: the fibers stand upright and close back over the blade instead of scarring. We build this board from kiln-dried black walnut, glued up in a brick pattern for stability, then flatten it dead-level and hand-break every edge. We rout a juice groove into the reverse and cut recessed finger grips into both ends. Finished with our food-safe beeswax-and-mineral-oil blend. Wash by hand, dry flat, and re-oil monthly. It only darkens and deepens with the years.
